Tatsuya Hirata

- Landscape with a Road -

I was born in a basin surrounded by mountains on three sides. When I was a child, I used to wonder what was beyond the mountains, and I thought it must be some kind of utopia. One day, with great anticipation, I climbed the mountain and found cornfields and pastureland. It was not an ideal world, but the path that weaved through the fields and stretched beyond the hazy horizon made my heart pound with a sense of a future that stretched far into infinity, a flow of eternal time. I now live far beyond the path I once took, but I have not yet reached the future I felt then.
