NAKAMURA Soji - Filmmaker / Artist
Born in March 1991 in Kumamoto, Japan, Nakamura is the general manager of DELICIOUS COMPANY. Born in Kumamoto, Japan, general manager of DELICIOUS COMPANY, Nakamura graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2016 with a Master's degree in Fine Arts, and began working as a part-time lecturer in the university's design department the following year. He sublimates familiar subjects and personal experiences into a narrative between fiction and fact, experimentally exploring the middle ground between film and art. [He directed [Tendai Daishi and Jionji Shugen] Jionji (2016), [bionic by sputniko!] Shibuya Seibu (2017), LUMINE [LUMINE DEAR TIME CHRISTMAS] (2016) and Saint Laurent [runaway] (2018) as a director.

In recent years, he directed video installations at Jionji Temple [Tendai Daishi and Jionji Shugen] (2016), contemporary artist Sputniko's [bionic by sputniko!] Shibuya Seibu (2017), and as a director, fashion for Lumine (2016), Saint Laurent (2018), etc. He has directed films. In this exhibition, Nakamura will present a video installation [Space Film #1 - Concrete Head] inspired by his own experience of disposing of debris generated at his parents' house in Kumamoto. Nakamura, who directs familiar subjects and experiences as a time axis that is different from everyday life where fiction and fact intersect, will experimentally present a story like a science fiction movie, in which concrete blocks exist as a rare commodity, in an exhibition space that includes video, two-dimensional and three-dimensional works. During the exhibition, in addition to two-dimensional works such as a fictional screenplay, concrete blocks made from the rubble of his hometown, Kumamoto, will be sold at the venue. (*The artist will also participate in a talk event at the opening on June 8 at 6:30 p.m. and at the closing on June 23 at 5:30 p.m.)
