Aurora Week is a series of events that combine the mysterious beauty of the aurora with the power of music. This event is being held at the Art for Thought gallery in Ginza, Tokyo from May 13th (Monday) to May 18th (Saturday). During this event, three groups of artists will perform with the aim of creating a new world of sound and aurora.
The artists who will be performing on the second night are Ryuho Kataoka and Hitoshi Umemura unit. On the third night, Ryuho Kataoka will be performing with Atsuko Mikami and Tomomi Naito, and on the fourth and final night, Ryuho Kataoka will be performing with Sonoko Iwasaki and Tetra Tanizaki.

Born in Sendai City in 1976, Ryuho Kataoka is a space physics expert who received his doctorate from Tohoku University in 2004. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, where he moved every year from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology to NASA Goddard Space Aviation Station to Nagoya University's Solar-Terrestrial Environmental Research Institute. Since 2009, he has been a specially appointed assistant professor at Tokyo Tech, and he is known for his work on the Aurora 3D Project. Ryuho Kataoka has recently appeared on NHK's "Uchu no Nagisa" and TV Asahi's "Miracle Earth Story."
The first night will feature Hitoshi Umemura, Fuzuki, and Mitsuru Uchida.
Hitoshi Umemura is a guitarist and composer who released his solo album "Destiny" in 2000. He has produced music for several NHK programs and went to Minamisoma as a volunteer for NHK's "Sunday Forum" and "Visible History" in 2011. He produced "Let's hold hands ~ Minamisoma" after that and currently supports the activities of the "Minamisoma Flower Project."
Fuzuki is a jazz vocalist who debuted after being discovered by Takeshi Inomata, a famous drummer in the Japanese jazz world. Since 1996, she has toured 17 countries in Japan, the United States, Canada, Europe, and Northern Europe as the drummer and vocalist of the female rock band eX-girl. She has also participated in numerous rock festivals overseas, appeared on radio programs, and released albums in the United States, Europe, and Northern Europe. In 2013, she released "My Sweet Love," where she sings famous jazz songs.
Mitsuru Uchida is a guitar player who graduated from Berklee College of Music. He has played guitar for Azumi Inoue's "My Neighbor Totoro" tour support, Komi Hirose, and co-starred with a variety of artists such as Chen Min (erhu), the original electric band "Bomber Jam," and Bato Koto player Ji Burugud. He is also in charge of music production and arrangement at STUDIO A&O. Mitsuru Uchida has a long history as a guitar instructor and has a good reputation. He formed Disco BangBoo Express with Hitoshi Umemura, Suzuki, Mitsuru Uchida, and Mizuho, and in 2013, "Fantasy" was released.
On the second night of the event, Ryuho Kataoka and Hitoshi Umemura unit will be performing. Ryuho Kataoka is a specialist in space physics and is the representative of the Aurora 3D Project. His collaboration with Hitoshi Umemura unit was very popular on the first night of the event, and they will be returning to perform again.
On the third night, Ryuho Kataoka will be performing with Atsuko Mikami and Tomomi Naito. Atsuko Mikami is a pianist, while Tomomi Naito plays the saxophone. Together, they will create a world of sound that expresses the beauty and mystery of the aurora.
On the fourth and final night of the event, Ryuho Kataoka will be performing with Sonoko Iwasaki and Tetra Tanizaki. Sonoko Iwasaki is a violinist, and Tetra Tanizaki plays the piano. Together, they will create a world of sound and visual splendor that will take your breath away.
