Living with Rimpa

ABOUT

Welcome to Art for Thought, a Japanese art gallery located in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo. Our mission is to provide a platform for talented Japanese artists to showcase their work to the world. We are proud to present our latest exhibition, "Living with Rimpa," by the Kyoto Tegaki Yuzen Cooperative Seinenkai. This group exhibition is a celebration of the 400th anniversary of the birth of the Rimpa school and features works by skilled craftsmen in various fields. Join us to experience the refined aesthetic sense of Rinpa and its influence on clothing, food, shelter, and more.

Art for Thought is thrilled to host the "Living with Rimpa" exhibition by the Kyoto Tegaki Yuzen Cooperative Seinenkai from May 12th to May 24th, 2014. This exhibition showcases the various expressions of craftsmen such as dyed obi, accessories, and Japanese sweets, and their passion for Rimpa. During the event, visitors can witness a hand-painted Yuzen demonstration by craftsmen on May 17th and 18th. Additionally, you can indulge in creative sweets that match the exhibited works by Japanese confectionery artist Nika at the Nichika Cafe.

Art for Thought is also hosting a talk event, "An Evening in Ginza with Yuzen Artisans in Kyoto," on May 16th. The event features a performance by Tomoyuki Hosoi and Art Teller Toni, discussing the refined aesthetic sense of Rinpa and its influence on various fields. Admission is 1500 yen, and interested visitors can RSVP by emailing info@artforthought.jp or calling 03-6228-5922.
