From July 18th to July 27th, 2013, Art for Thought presents Sumi Takeshi's "BEYOND THE MEMORY" solo exhibition, showcasing the artist's boundary-breaking approach to photography. Sumi Takeshi’s images go beyond the traditional "fixation of time" and explore the new possibilities of memories and records. The exhibition features an array of photographs that challenge conventional notions of time and space, with blank spaces and light creating a new realm of possibilities.
In addition to the exhibition, Art for Thought hosts a series of related events that offer a unique experience of Takeshi's artistry. The workshop "Let's shine a light through your favorite photo!" on July 20th, invites visitors to bring three photos they don't mind scratching, and a camera (digital camera recommended) to participate. The event will be conducted by Sumi Takeshi and costs 1,000 yen.
On the same day, Art for Thought presents a unique dance event, "BEYOND THE MEMORY" x "Dream" ~ Intersection as physical expression ~. The dance performance embodies the theme of going beyond memory, intersecting with Sumi Takeshi's photographic art. The event features the talents of Atsushi Kakumoto (d'UOMO ex machina), Mari Kawaguchi, Miwa Matsuri, Ren Furumura, and Yayoi Takase, and runs from 19:30-20:30 with a price of 2000 yen.
On July 24th, the photo magazine “PHaT PHOTO” editor-in-chief, Korehiro Hayami, engages in an artist talk with Sumi Takeshi in a dialogue format. The talk offers an opportunity to learn more about Takeshi's creative process and approach to photography. The doors open at 19:00 and the artist talk starts at 19:30. The event costs 1000 yen, with one drink included.
