Nishiyama's 2014 collection is a rare and valuable opportunity for art lovers to witness the beauty and complexity of civil engineering photographs that are rarely seen. Visitors will be amazed by the stunning and powerful visuals of underground tunnels captured by Nishiyama's camera. Our gallery is open from 11:00 to 18:00, from Saturday, February 8, 2014, to Saturday, March 1, 2014, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. After 18:00, our gallery transforms into a bar where visitors can continue to enjoy the art while sipping on a drink.
Houichi Nishiyama, the author of the photobook, was born in Ota-ku, Tokyo, in 1952. He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University and has been a civil engineering photographer since then. He has received numerous awards, including the Nikkei BP Best Photo Award in March 1992, the Japan Society of Civil Engineers 2002 Publication Culture Award in May 2003, and the Japan Society of Civil Engineers 2006 Publication Culture Award in May 2007. He has published several photobooks, including "Port Heritage," "Taushubetsu," "Waterfront Civil Engineering," and "Tunnel," which was released by the Construction Institute of Technology in October 2005.
