ABOUT
Yukio Shinohara is a highly respected artist and professor at the Department of Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1955, he completed his doctoral program at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts (Crafts) in 1984. Since then, he has won numerous awards and participated in various exhibitions in Japan and overseas.
In 1999, he received the Jusaburo Tsujimura Award at the New Century Doll Exhibition. In 2000 and 2001, he participated in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London. His works were also featured in the "Century of Crafts" Exhibition in 2003 at The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts.
In 2007, he participated in the Tokyo University of the Arts 120th Anniversary Project Japanese Art "Now" Exhibition at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi. In 2009, he was awarded the Gold Award at the University of Tokyo International Metal Art Exhibition held at Seika University Art School. Shinohara's exceptional skill in metal hammering is truly awe-inspiring, and we are thrilled to showcase his magnificent creations at Art for Thought.
