ARTIST STATEMENT
When I create, I have a sense of creating a new work of art by going through the two different times: the present time and the time of retrospection of memories.
The time of "present" is the image of impulsive desire that I seek in my daily life, and the time to embody that image into a form. And the time of "retrospection of memories" is the time spent in my parents' confectionery store, which has continued from my childhood to the present - the time spent looking at the pastries arranged in refrigerated showcases and wooden desks and chairs, being exposed to the sweet aroma wafting outside, eating unsold cakes and snacking on baked goods before they were wrapped.
I am searching for the ideal form of my work within these two times. In the "eat sculpture" exhibition, I express the process of going back and forth between these two times. I believe that the inevitability and possibility of the work will reveal itself as the work transforms into what it should be, based on my own history and experiences.
