ABOUT

ART FOR THOUGHT is pleased to present Takuya Sasaki's "Unleashed to the external world ──" as the last exhibition of the year.

This is an exhibition of new works drawn in the year 2023 by Sasaki, who has been painting expressive animal gestures with a powerful touch.

The exhibition, which will span from December 2023 to January 2024, will include Christmas reindeers and also dragons, inspired by the year 2024, the year of the dragon. We hope you will enjoy the show.

*We will have an artist reception this Saturday, December 16 at 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and you are all welcome to join!

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

Released from the cage into the wild. In this age of diversity, it is no longer necessary to aim for "success" or "wealth," as long as each individual lives his or her life in his or her own way. However, I can't help but feel a sense of discomfort. This is not the same as abandoning effort and saying, "I'm fine the way I am," or becoming selfish and saying, "Other people don't matter to me".

We have been liberated from the stereotypical values of "success" and released from the comfort of the zoo into the wild. We can be peaceful herbivores or stimulating carnivores, we can help each other in a herd or live lightly on our own. We are forced to make decisions about how to live, one by one. After all, the age of diversity also means liberation to the harsh savanna.

Pandas, lions, cats, giraffes, and penguins...... every animal Sasaki draws is painted with a smooth, unhesitating touch and has background colors that seem to express emotion and personality. The strength of each piece gave us a sense of Sasaki's way of life, as he releases animals one after another from their cages into the wild. In this exhibition, I would like to hang animal paintings all over the walls. I would like to ask each viewer which animal's way of life he or she would choose to be like. You, too, are about to be released into the wild.
